Some Still Without Power After Storms

By Associated Press

Birmingham, AL – More than 1,400 Alabama Power customers were still without power this morning after storms rumbled through the Birmingham area overnight.

That's down from the 15,628 Alabama Power customers who lost power last night in Jefferson and Shelby counties.

Utility spokeswoman Keisa Sharp said the company was working as fast as it could to restore electricity to all customers.

The National Weather Service said there were reports of large hail last night and trees were down in several areas. But a weather service meteorologist said there were no reports of injuries.
