Ala. Wins 3 National Tourism Awards

Montgomery, AL – Alabama tourism and travel officials have won the Travel Industry Association's highest award for its Year of Alabama Arts Campaign.

Gov. Bob Riley said in a statement Wednesday the tourism department received TIA's ``Discover America'' marketing award for 2007.

The promotion is featured in the November issue of National Geographic Traveler.

The 56-page brochure promoted exhibitions, festivals and landmarks in 64 Alabama towns and cities.

Tourism officials also received the National Council of State Tourism Directors ``Mercury Award'' for best state promotion and Travel Magazine's ``Magellan'' prize for promoting culture and the arts.
