Kay Ivey Closer To Decison About Ala. Governor

Montgomery, AL – State Treasurer Kay Ivey says an invitation to the Republican Governors Association meeting in Miami has prompted her to take an even closer look at running for governor in 2010.

The two-term treasurer had already been considering the race before she was invited to attend the RGA's session Thursday for ``emerging leaders.'' She was the only Alabama elected official invited other than the state's Republican governor, Bob Riley.

Ivey said Friday she's definitely closer to making a decision about the 2010 race after having the opportunity to meet with Republican governors from across the country. She said she will be talking to citizens across the state and will announce a decision early in 2009.
