Birmingham-Based Magazine to Cease Publication

By Associated Press

Birmingham, AL – Cottage Living magazine, one of seven titles published by Time Inc. at Birmingham-based Southern Progress Corp., is folding after four years in which circulation grew to 1 million.

A Time spokeswoman said Monday the economic downturn had inhibited the magazine's ability to grow. It was hurt by a decline in advertising revenue.

The shutdown will affect 38 jobs with the magazine and the Cottageliving.com Web site, but some workers might find other jobs within the company.

The November-December issue on newsstands now will be the magazine's last.
