Montgomery, AL – The state finance director and the state's chief industrial recruiter are in Europe meeting with senior management of companies that have plants in Alabama.
State Finance Director Jim Main said he and Alabama Development Office Director Neal Wade are telling companies that Alabama wants to maintain and expand its relationship with the companies during difficult economic times.
Main and Wade are meeting with ThyssenKrupp, Evonik Degussa and other companies in Germany. They are also promoting Alabama as a good location for suppliers for the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. and they will visit France to prepare for Alabama's presence at the 2009 Paris Air Show.
The two state officials are scheduled to return to Alabama on Sunday.
