Ala. Broadcasters Hold Special Test Wednesday

Hoover, AL – Alabama broadcasters are preparing for the switch to digital television.

The Alabama Broadcasters Association will coordinate an analog/digital shut-off test Wednesday, starting at 5:25 p.m.

The association said participating stations will either simulate shutting off their analog transmitters or will display special messages on their analog or digital signals for one minute.

If you fail to see the digital signal - your television set needs to be replaced or modified with a converter box.

The change to digital TV will take place Feb. 17, 2009.

A converter box is not required if you are a customer of cable or satellite companies.

For more information call the Alabama Broadcasters Association at 1-800-211-5189.
