Montgomery, AL – Alabama state troopers says motorists can expect extra patrols and sobriety checkpoints statewide during the New Year's holiday weekend.
The 102-hour travel period begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday and run through midnight Sunday, Jan. 4.
Public Safety Director Christopher Murphy said troopers will focus on curtailing impaired driving.
Alabama had 11 traffic deaths during the 102-hour New Year's holiday weekend last year, and alcohol was a factor in at least four of them.
