Montgomery, AL – Dozens of injury lawsuits filed on behalf of Lee High School students have been settled in the 2006 wreck of a school bus in Huntsville that plunged off an interstate overpass.
Huntsville attorney Douglas Fees said Tuesday that settlements were reached after mediation with bus operator Laidlaw Transit Inc., based in Illinois at the time of the wreck, and bus driver Anthony Scott.
The Nov. 20, 2006 crash left four high school girls dead and started a national debate over school bus safety and adding seat belts to the vehicles carrying schoolchildren.
Families of the four girls who died reached settlements in their wrongful death suits last November. The financial terms of all the settlements are confidential.
