Montgomery, AL – Alabama legislators have approved a contract of nearly $140 million for Health Management Resources of Anderson, S.C., to keep operating the state's three veterans nursing homes.
The Legislature's Contract Review Committee signed off on the five-year contract Thursday without any objections. The committee's action clears the way for the state Department of Veterans Affairs to complete the contract.
Health Management Resources is wrapping up a five-year contract worth nearly $122 million to operate the veterans homes in Bay Minette, Alexander City and Huntsville. It was the only bidder for a new contract.
The contract doesn't cover the state veterans home being built in Pell City. A management contract for that home will be bid later.
