Cullman, AL – Democratic state Sen. Zeb Little of Cullman has stepped down as Hanceville's municipal court prosecutor due to his arrest for drunken driving.
Hancville Mayor Kenneth Nail says Little called him Sunday to say he could no longer serve.
Little was stopped by officers April 3 in Jefferson County for driving under the influence and other charges, including violation of the open container law.
Little said it wasn't appropriate for him to prosecute cases while he had charges pending, and he asked the city of Hanceville to replace him until the charges are resolved.
Little was hired in November and was paid $500 per month. Hanceville's municipal court meets twice a month.
