Jefferson Co. Commissioner To Run For Congress

Birmingham, AL – Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Smoot says she will be a candidate to replace Artur Davis in Congress.

The 45-year-old Democrat said Thursday she will make a formal announcement and outline her agenda next week.

Smoot joins two others vying for the 7th Congressional District Seat.

They are Birmingham lawyers Terri Sewell and Earl Hilliard, Jr.

Davis, a five-term Democrat, has said he will run for governor in 2010.
