Montgomery, AL – Developer Ronnie Gilley says he's going ahead with construction of the Country Crossing entertainment center near Dothan despite the Legislature killing the ``Sweet Home Alabama'' bingo bill.
The bill to tax, regulate and expand electronic bingo was one of hundreds of bills that died Thursday because that was the last day in the 2009 session for bills to pass at least one house of the Legislature. The electronic bingo bill never got a vote in the House or Senate.
The bill was a proposed constitutional amendment that would have erased questions about the legality of electronic bingo, including Gilley's project.
Gilley said the coalition pushing the bingo bill will be back next year.
