Grand Jury Hears Testimony From Ala. AG's Employees

Montgomery, AL – A federal grand jury investigating state Attorney General Troy King's office has heard from current employees of the office and subpoenaed office records.

King's chief of staff, Chris Bence, said Wednesday four or five employees were subpoenaed to appear last week. Bence said he also appeared before the grand jury to deliver records that were subpoenaed. Bence said he does not know what prompted the review.

The grand jury began the investigation in March by hearing from several former employees of the attorney general's office.

The grand jury is meeting in Montgomery, but it is being led by U.S. Attorney Alice Martin of Birmingham, who has declined comment on the proceedings.
