Birmingham, AL – Most of the 13 Alabama car dealerships that Chrysler wants to close say they intend to remain open selling other brands.
The automaker said Thursday it plans to close about one-quarter of its 3,200 dealerships by early next month. Of those, 13 are in Alabama.
Three of the Alabama dealers already have shut down. Two closed last week.
But of the remaining 10, all sell other makes of automobiles or used vehicles. And at least nine of them intend to remain open despite the loss of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep franchises.
