Mobile, AL – A survey says home prices in the Mobile metro area dropped 8.59 percent in March compared with a year ago. Statewide, the prices were down 6.2 percent.
The survey by California-based First American CoreLogic found the decline in the port city prices accelerated slightly from February, when prices fell 7.82 percent from the previous year.
However, the Mobile decline trailed an 11.5 percent national decline in March prices. That was down slightly from an 11.7 percent decline in February.
First American CoreLogic says statewide, Alabama home prices fell 6.2 percent.
Home prices in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area fell 5 percent in March compared with a year ago. They dropped 4.6 percent in February.
