JSU Loses Final Appeal Of Football Postseason Ban

Jacksonville, AL – The NCAA has denied Jacksonville State's final appeal of a one-year football postseason ban.

The university was notified on Wednesday of the decision made by an NCAA panel. Jacksonville State was one of three schools with teams banned from postseason play for the upcoming season after failing to meet NCAA academic progress standards for a third straight year. The others didn't appeal.

The university's initial appeal was denied by the Division I Committee on Academic Performance. The Historical Penalties Subcommittee also turned down Jacksonville State.

Gamecocks athletic director Oval Jaynes said he was disappointed with the decision but is confident that the football program has made positive strides.
