Montgomery, AL – Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim James is lining up support from people who helped former Chief Justice Roy Moore run for governor in 2006.
Campaign spokesman Brett Hall said Monday that former state Sen. Roy Smith of Gadsden has agreed to lead James' campaign in Etowah County. Smith served as co-chairman of the We Need Moore 2006 Committee when Moore ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for governor that year. Moore is running again this time.
Smith issued a statement saying James represents the future of Alabama's Republican Party with his strong leadership on job creation.
Smith's role in James' campaign follows another former Moore campaign organizer, Montgomery businessman Ron Creel, agreeing to be on James' campaign steering committee last year.
