Ala. PSC Considering Rate Cuts For 3 Utilities

Montgomery, AL – Customers of Alabama Power Co., Alabama Gas and Mobile Gas could see their rates going down in the next few weeks.

The staff of the Alabama Public Service Commission has recommended rate reductions for all three utilities. The director of the PSC's advisory staff, Judy McLean, said the commission is expected to vote on the reductions Tuesday.

The proposed rate cuts stem, in part, from the prices of natural gas and coal dropping.

The proposed rate reduction for the gas companies would start in December. The rate cut for Alabama Power would begin in January.
