Judge Seeks Advice In Ala. Gambling Raid Case

Dothan, AL – A judge appointed to hear the legal arguments over a planned raid on a Dothan casino says he needs more guidance from the Alabama Supreme Court.

Conecuh County District Judge Jeff Brock said Wednesday a search warrant issued by another judge Dec. 31 for a raid at Country Crossing expired because it wasn't used within 10 days. The judge said he was not sure whether the Supreme Court had given him authority to hear other matters involving Country Crossing's operations, and he needs clarification from the court.

The Dothan Eagle reported that until the Supreme Court acts or appoints a different judge, no judge has the authority to sign a search warrant for a raid on Country Crossing because all Houston County judges have recused themselves from the case.
