Huntsville, AL – A prosecutor says he won't oppose mental evaluations for a university professor accused of shooting six colleagues during a faculty meeting one week ago.
Madison County District Attorney Robert Broussard says Amy Bishop should receive the testing to settle any claims about her mental health.
Bishop's lawyer, Roy W. Miller, told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday that he believes his client suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. He said she gets in conflicts with people needlessly and then becomes obsessed with them.
Bishop is charged with capital murder and attempted murder in a shooting that killed three fellow teachers at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Three more were injured.
Funerals and memorial services for two of the victims will be held Friday and Saturday.
