Report Criticizes Ala. Child Dental Health

Montgomery, AL – A newly released national study gives Alabama a grade of 'D' when it comes to addressing child dental health.

``The Cost of Delay: State Dental Policies Fail One in Five Children,'' was released Tuesday by the Pew Center on the States.

It looks at all 50 states and the District of Columbia, grading each on things like how well they are using policy to ensure dental access for children, including making Medicaid improvements.

Alabama received a 'D' grade for meeting less than half of the eight policy benchmarks in Pew's analysis.

No state met all eight targets. New Jersey ranked lowest in the nation, meeting only one benchmark.
