Montgomery, AL – As many as 2,000 students, staff members and supporters of Alabama's public four-year colleges are set to rally at the Alabama Statehouse for fairness in funding.
Participants from 13 public four-year schools will march from near Cramton Bowl to the Alabama Statehouse beginning at 10:30 a.m. The march will be led by the University of North Alabama band.
The Jacksonville State University and Alabama State University bands will play during the rally beginning at 11 a.m.
The rally participants will also be encouraging lawmakers to guarantee funding of a prepaid tuition program, but not at the expense of the schools. University officials have expressed concern with one legislative proposal that would cap tuition increases for PACT participants at 2.5 percent.
