Birmingham, AL – A group of Alabama Baptists will spend spring break walking from downtown Birmingham to Perry County to raise awareness of poverty.
About two dozen people are expected to participate in the 74-mile trek, which begins Wednesday morning and ends Saturday in Marion.
Participants include leaders and members of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. The moderate Baptist group has an initiative that fights poverty in Perry County, one of the poorest areas in the state.
The walk will go from Birmingham to Bessemer, then through Bibb County and on to Marion, the largest town in Perry County.
