Montgomery, AL – President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for Alabama and ordered federal aid for areas struck by severe storms and flooding.
The action taken Tuesday makes federal funding available to affected individuals in DeKalb and Marshall counties for damage from the storms of April 24-25.
Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover.
Federal funding also is available to state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities.
