Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Republican Party is questioning one of its own candidates who stared a big advertising campaign after reporting he had raised little money for his race.
State Republican Party Chairman Mike Hubbard says Dothan attorney Tracy Cary should file a new campaign finance report showing where he got the money for his big advertising buy in a state Supreme Court race.
Cary is running against incumbent Justice Mike Bolin. Cary filed a campaign finance waiver Monday morning saying he hadn't raised or spent $25,000. But then he began his advertising campaign.
Cary says he followed state law. He says he hadn't raised the money for the ad blitz when he filed his report.
State law doesn't require any more disclosure reports before Tuesday's vote.
