Montgomery, AL – The new board that is supposed to safeguard Alabama's prepaid college tuition plan had to cancel its first meeting because too few members could attend.
The Legislature created a new board for the Prepaid Affordable College Tuition plan when lawmakers allocated $548 million to shore up the financially troubled program.
The 15-member board was supposed to meet for the first time Wednesday. But State Treasurer Kay Ivey said not all members have been appointed, and some who have been appointed could not attend.
She has rescheduled the meeting for June 16 in Montgomery.
