Montgomery, AL – A recount of one questionable voting place in Tuscaloosa County has turned up no problems, possibly a blow to third-place finisher Tim James.
James had questioned whether duplication had occurred at the Tuscaloosa Academy voting place because the same number of Democratic and Republican ballots were run through two vote counters. If so, it could have moved James into second place.
But Tuscaloosa County Commissioner Don Wallace says the recount showed no problems, and the number of ballots matched the number of signatures on the sign-in sheets at the polls.
Wallace was observing the recount for second-place finisher Robert Bentley.
Bentley's campaign is objecting to some counties tallying ballots by hand if they are rejected by vote counting machines. Alabama's attorney general says that's up to the Republican Party to decide.
