Official Says NASA Will Look To Marshall

Huntsville, AL – A NASA official says the Marshall Space Flight Center has an important role to play in the agency's future.

Congress on Wednesday approved a NASA reauthorization bill that calls for continued development of a heavy-lift space launch system but suspends development plans for a separate transport vehicle for manned travel. President Barack Obama has said he wants the private sector to develop space vehicles.

Congress laid out a $58 billion roadmap for NASA's future over the next three years.

NASA's Deputy Administrator Lori Garver says Marshall experts will be needed to help build the new heavy-lift vehicle.
