Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley and officials from the Tuscaloosa County area are in Germany trying to recruit more auto supply companies to the state.
Riley's press secretary, Todd Stacy, said Tuesday the visit stems from Mercedes' decision to base production of its C-Class sedan at its plant in Tuscaloosa County. The Alabama delegation is meeting with about a dozen suppliers in Stuttgart in hopes they will want to open plants in Alabama that will make parts for the C-Class.
Stacy says the governor left Monday and will return Thursday.
