Republican Majority Picks Marsh To Lead Ala. Senate

Montgomery, AL – The newly elected Republican majority in the Alabama Senate has picked state Sen. Del Marsh of Anniston to be president pro tem, the most powerful post in the Senate. And Republicans in the new House have chosen state Rep. Mike Hubbard of Auburn to be House speaker.

The House Republicans were unanimous Thursday in picking Hubbard, who was recommended by Republican Gov.-elect Robert Bentley.

Republican senators met privately in Montgomery Thursday to decide on their leadership. Along with Marsh as president pro tem, they chose state Sen. Jabo Waggoner of Vestavia Hills to be majority leader.
