Huntsville, AL – Republican-leaning voters in Alabama's Morgan County say they want to rejoin the 5th Congressional District in the north.
Political watchers said the potential switch could cement GOP-control of Huntsville and north Alabama for a decade.
The Huntsville Times reports that the Republican Executive Committee of Morgan County and the Morgan County Chamber of Commerce have already issued requests to be included in the 5th District. They are currently part of the 4th District.
Congressman-elect Mo Brooks, who will represent the 5th District, said he was not ready to make formal suggestions. But Brooks said he understood the county's desire to be in a single district, which he believes would give it more influence.
