Montgomery, AL – VictoryLand casino owner Milton McGregor is asking a federal judge to let him stop wearing a monitoring bracelet because it makes sleep difficult and has elevated his blood pressure.
The bracelet was a condition of McGregor's release on bond after his arrest in October in Alabama's gambling corruption case. Prosecutors have filed court papers opposing him removing the bracelet. They said he was ordered to wear it after making threats to the FBI agents who arrested him at his Montgomery home.
But McGregor's wife, Pat, and his chief of security, Mike Johnson, have filed court papers saying they heard no threats. McGregor's attorney, Joe Espy, says his client is a peaceful man and prosecutors are taking McGregor's comment to the agents out of context.
