Montgomery, AL – Campaign finance reports show Republican Attorney General Luther Strange spent more than four times as much as his Democratic opponent last year.
Reports filed Monday with the secretary of state show Strange spent $3.1 million in 2010 in his successful campaign for attorney general. Strange defeated incumbent Attorney General Troy King in the Republican primary and Montgomery attorney James Anderson in the November general election.
The finance reports show Anderson spent $695,752 on his campaign. That included winning the Democratic primary in a three-person field.
The reports shows that Strange's campaign ended the year with a $76,600 debt. Anderson's campaign owed $360 at the end of the year.
The reports show King spent $1.3 million on his unsuccessful primary campaign.
