Tuscaloosa, AL – The University of Alabama is again responding to an incident of racially insensitive language on the Tuscaloosa campus.
The administration sent students a mass e-mail Wednesday saying someone had used chalk to write disparaging words about various ethnic and racial groups, including blacks and whites. The e-mail didn't say exactly what was written or where the incident occurred.
But the writing included the words ``First Amendment.'' A message from university vice president Mark Nelson says the school supports free-speech rights, but it calls the incident ``mean-spirited and unacceptable.''
A member of a white fraternity is currently being disciplined after being accused of yelling a racial slur at a black man on campus last weekend.
