Montgomery, AL – A federal judge has set aside three days to hear arguments about whether to block tape recorded phone calls from being used in the trial of Alabama's gambling corruption case.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Wallace Capel Jr. said he will hear arguments from Feb. 28 through March 2 in Montgomery.
The defendants are trying to stop prosecutors from using the wiretapped phone calls. They include recordings of indicted casino owners Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley, as well as casino lobbyist Jarrod Massey. Massey has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with prosecutors.
The trial in the case is tentatively set to begin June 6.
