Birmingham, AL – New statistics show personal income for Alabamians rose slightly faster than the national average in 2010.
Income grew 3.1 percent in the state last year, ranking Alabama 17th nationally. Among all states, income rose an average of 3 percent.
Personal income growth ranged among the states from below 1 percent in Nevada to more than 4 percent in New Mexico.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports income from all sources for Alabama residents totaled more than $162 billion last year. Findings show per capita income in Alabama neared $34,000 last year, or more than 83 percent of the U.S. average.
Personal income had declined in the state by more than $1 billion in 2009.
