PSC Approves Ala. Power Price Break For Jobs

Montgomery, AL – The Public Service Commission has voted unanimously for new Alabama Power rates that will give a price break to businesses large and small if they help the state recover from the recession.

The package approved Tuesday will expand the number of businesses that can qualify for small business rates. An estimated 8,000 companies could benefit.

It will also give a one-year discount to businesses that open a new account in a building that has been vacant for at least six months, and it will give a two-year price break to large companies that invest enough money and create enough jobs to qualify for the state's Capital Investment Tax Credits.

Commissioner Terry Dunn says the package is designed to help get Alabamians back to work.
