Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham company at the center of an infection outbreak linked to deaths and illnesses in six Alabama hospitals says it's doing all it can to cooperate with investigators and wants a judge to loosen restrictions on potential evidence about the problem.
Meds IV argues in court documents that rules imposed by a Shelby County judge could hamper the government's probe into what caused the apparent problem with bacterial contamination at its laboratory.
The judge has scheduled a hearing for Friday in Columbiana on a request by Meds IV to relax a court order that bars the company from destroying or transferring items from its offices.
Health officials say nine people died and 10 others got sick after receiving intravenous feeding bags from Meds IV. Numerous lawsuits have been filed.
