4 More Alabama Disaster Centers To Close

Birmingham, AL – Authorities say several Birmingham-area disaster recovery centers will close their doors at the end of the week.

The four shelters that will no longer be opened as of Saturday are: Calhoun County's Webster's Chapel Methodist Church shelter location, Tuscaloosa County's Holt Elementary School shelter location, Fayette County's Berry Civic Center shelter location and Walker County's shelter location at Bevill State Community College.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says those still needing assistance can still get help by calling their helpline at 800-621-FEMA.

A center closes if Alabama emergency management officials deem the needs of a community have decreased enough that the shelter is no longer needed as an immediate informational resource. There are 15 remaining recovery centers open in the state.
