Ala. Ethics Law Confuses Ticket Holders

Montgomery, AL – An ethics law that limits the process of baseball ticket sharing is causing confusion for some Montgomery Biscuits fans.

Enacted in December, an ethics law sponsored by Sen. Bryan Taylor forbids Alabama county or city employees from receiving anything of value from another person, including baseball tickets.

Taylor says the law placing restrictions on gifts to public employees is discourages vote-buying.

Biscuits' owner Sherrie Myers worries the law will have an effect on attendance. Myers says people are expressing concern that they won't be able to share game tickets.

Taylor and the head of the Alabama Ethics Commission say they're willing to talk about making exceptions for the Biscuits and the three other AA baseball teams in Alabama - the Huntsville Stars, Birmingham Barons, and Mobile Bay Bears.
