Discussing the Practice of Judge Overrides In Ala.

Tuscaloosa, AL – Alabama is one of three states that allow elected trial judges to override a jury's verdict. According to a new report by the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama is the only jurisdiction where judges routinely override jury verdicts of life in prison to impose capital punishment. Bryan Stevenson, is the executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative. Alabama Public Radio's Ryan Vasquez had a chance to talk with Stevenson about the problem of judge overrides in Alabama.
