Lobbyist Pouncy Describes $2 Million Offer

Montgomery, AL – Federal prosecutors are using a casino lobbyist to try to back up a charge against a state senator of making a false statement to the FBI.

Country Crossing casino lobbyist Jennifer Pouncy testified Wednesday about a series of wiretapped phone calls she had with her boss, Jarrod Massey, and Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley about offers to Sen. Jim Preuitt to support pro-gambling legislation. On the calls, they talked about $2 million in campaign contributions, polling and the free use of a campaign worker.

FBI agent George Glaser testified Tuesday that he interviewed Preuitt after he voted for the bill, and Preuitt said he knew nothing about bribe offers.

The trial is taking Wednesday afternoon off to allow court officials to attend the funeral of U.S. District Judge Ira Dement.
