Tuscaloosa Tornado Death Toll Now At 47

Tuscaloosa, AL – The city of Tuscaloosa is adding three more people to the list of deaths being blamed on the tornado that struck April 27.

City officials said Tuesday the additional victims died as long as two months after the storm. They added to the official count following discussions with relatives.

The city's death toll now stands at 47.

Officials say the latest victims to be added to the count are 80-year-old Helen M. Kemp; 83-year-old Robert Gene Hicks and 88-year-old Rev. Lee Andrew Lee.

The city says injuries and the aftermath of the twister are most difficult for elderly people to survive.
