Special Session Possible For County's Money Woes

Montgomery, AL – A state official says lawmakers outside of Jefferson County might be called on in a special session of the Alabama Legislature to fix the county's financial problems.

Gov. Robert Bentley's chief of staff, David Perry, said that a wide range of solutions are under discussion and ``in some instances non-Jefferson County legislators may be part of a solution.''

State Rep. Jack Williams, R-Vestavia Hills, said he's already heard from legislators outside the Jefferson County delegation who are willing to help.

The county is looking for a legislative fix for its $3.14 billion sewer debt crisis and the fiscal 2012 county general fund budget which commissioners say needs another $40 million.
