10 Commandments Judge Eyes Race

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's Ten Commandments judge, Roy Moore, says he's seriously considering running for his old job as chief justice.

Moore told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday that lots of people have encouraged him to enter the Republican primary and he expects to decide by Jan. 1.

Moore said that if he runs and wins, he has no plans to try to return his Ten Commandments monument to the lobby of the state judicial building. Moore was elected chief justice in 2000 and then kicked out of office in 2003 for refusing to abide by a federal judge's order to remove the monument from public display.

The current chief justice, Chuck Malone, and former state Attorney General Charlie Graddick are already running in the Republican primary on March 13.
