Montgomery, AL – A federal judge is planning to hold court on Saturdays when the retrial of Alabama's gambling corruption case starts Jan. 30.
U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson issued an order Friday saying that the trial will be held for a half day on Saturdays, but he said he may cancel the Saturday sessions if the trial moves faster than expected. The original trial last 10 weeks this summer. It ended with two defendants acquitted and the jury unable to decide all the charges against seven others.
Thompson has laid out a schedule for the retrial that goes through early May.
