Montgomery, AL – Mobile County Circuit Judge Charlie Graddick has raised the most money in a star studded three-candidate field for the Republican nomination for chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
Alabama campaign finance records show Graddick, a former Alabama attorney general, has raised $346,519 compared to $269,515 for incumbent Chief Justice Chuck Malone and $78,000 for former Chief Justice Roy Moore.
The period for raising money was shortened by this year's early party primaries with voters scheduled to go to the polls March 13 rather than in June.
Malone is a former Tuscaloosa County circuit judge and chief of staff for Gov. Robert Bentley. He was appointed chief justice after former Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb resigned last summer. She was the only Democratic appellate judge in Alabama.
