Montgomery, AL – The severe weather has prompted Alabama's governor to cancel a meeting where he was supposed to receive a study from a group of community and corporate leaders that studied Alabama's response to the killer tornadoes in April.
The meeting was set for Monday morning in Montgomery, but Gov. Robert Bentley announced its cancellation after severe storms caused deaths early Monday in Jefferson County.
A spokeswoman for the governor says the meeting with the Tornado Recovery Action Council will be rescheduled.
Officials say the report will contain 20 recommendations addressing storm shelters, warning systems, community awareness, coordination between state agencies and economic recovery. The group has been working on its report since August.
