Montgomery, AL – A casino lobbyist who admitted offering bribes for votes has testified that she lied to the FBI when first questioned about the payoffs.
Defense attorneys in Alabama's gambling corruption trial sought Tuesday to damage the credibility of Country Crossing lobbyist Jennifer Pouncy. She testified Monday that she offered $2 million in campaign contributions to state Sen. Jim Preuitt of Talladega and agreed to provide $100,000 to state Sen. Larry Means of Attalla for their votes for pro-gambling legislation.
Means' attorney, Bill Clark, asked Pouncy if she lied when she told FBI agents in her first interview that she knew nothing about any bribe offers. Pouncy admitted she did lie.
Clark also got her to acknowledge she never had an explicit agreement to give Means a specific amount for his vote.
