Montgomery, AL – Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley has testified he was living in a lie while developing his casino in Dothan, but he insists he's telling the truth in Alabama's gambling corruption trial.
Defense attorneys tried to challenge Gilley's testimony as a prosecution witness Tuesday in federal court in Montgomery.
Under questioning by an attorney for Sen. Harri Anne Smith, Gilley admitted he hasn't always been an honest man and he exaggerated information he gave to some investors. But he said his plea agreement with prosecutors requires him to tell the truth and that's what he is doing in court.
Defense attorney William White asked Gilley, ``Can you tell me when you switched from being dishonest to being honest?''
Gilley replied, ``I can't.''
Gilley is scheduled for sentencing in April.
